DEPOSTJABAR.COM (BANDUNG),- Australia, satu dari tiga wakil Asia di babak 16 besar Piala Dunia 2022, dengan berat hati harus ikut jejak Amerika Serikat, angkat koper, dan pulang kampung.

Socceroos tidak bisa melaju ke fase 8 besar, karena kalah tipis 1-2, dari tim Tango di Stadion Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, Minggu 4 Desember 2022, pukul 02.00 WIB.

Kemenangan 2-1 atas Australia, mengantarkan Argentina melaju ke perempat final. Lawannya Belanda, tim yang baru saja memulangkan Amerika Serikat. Oranje menang 3-1 atau the Yanks.

Gol Argentina dicetak oleh Lionel Messi pada menit ke-35 dan Julian Alvarez di menit ke-57. Sementara gol Australia dapatkan oleh Creig Goodwin di menit ke-77.

Bagi Messi gol, ke gawang Australia di babak 16 besar ini, menjadi gol ke-789 sepanjang kariernya sebagai pesepak bola.

Timnas Argentina langsung tampil menekan sejak babak pertama baru saja dimulai. Tekanan tim Tango, dilancarkan dengan berbagi skema, tetapi nggak juga berbuah gol.

Messi dapat gol karena bisa melakukan kerjasama yang baik dengan Alexis Mac Allister dan Nicolas Otamendi, di lini pertahanan Australia.

Setelah menerima umpan dari Otamendi, Messi menyudahi skema serangan tersebut dengan tendangan kaki kiri melengkung dari dalam kotak penalti.

Bola, yang mengarah ke pojok kanan bawah gawang Australia, tidak mampu dijangkau oleh Mathew Ryan.

Gol ke gawang Australia dalam laga kali ini menjadi lesakan pertama Messi di fase knock-out Piala Dunia sepanjang kariernya.

Selain itu, catatan gol Messi kali ini menjadi semakin indah karena La Pulga memainkan laga ke-1.000 dalam kariernya, dan mengenakan ban kapten timnas Argentina untuk yang ke-100 kalinya.

La Albiceleste tidak menurunkan tensi permainan usai mencetak gol pertama dalam pertandingan kali ini.

Namun, hingga peluit tanda turun minum berbunyi, Argentina tetap tidak mampu menambah keunggulan. Skor 1-0 tetap bertahan.

Awal babak kedua dimulai, Argentina langsung berusaha menggandakan skor yang sudah didapatnya di babak pertama.

Messi mendapatkan ruang tembak di menit ke-50, laju bola terlalu lemah hingga bisa ditangkap kiper Mathew Ryan.

Argentina berhasil menggandakan keunggulan menjadi 2-0 atau Australia lewat gol Julian Alvarez di menit ke-57.

Blunder kiper Australia Matt Ryan saat mengontrol bola di depan gawang dimanfaatkan Alvarez untuk diceploskan ke gawang kosong.

Australia mampu memperkecil ketertinggalan menjadi 1-2 di menit ke-77. Bola tembakan Craig Goodwin dari luar kotak penalti mengenai pemain Argentina sehingga membuat Emiliano Martinez mati langkah dan tak bisa menyelamatkan gawangnya.

Australia nyaris menyamakan skor di menit ke-80. Aziz Behich mampu menusuk ke kotak penalti Argentina, namun bola tembakannya dilepaskan masih bisa diblok lawan.

Lautaro Martinez gagal memanfaatkan peluang emas di menit ke-88. Dalam posisi yang sudah bebas, bola tembakannya malah melebar dari gawang Australia.

Tak ada gol tambahan sampai laga tuntas meski kedua tim punya peluang emas di injury time. Argentina pun menang dengan skor 2-1. (Aris)
